Web 2.0 Revolution PDF Print E-mail

Welcome to the Web 2.0 Revolution.  The term Web 2.0 first became notable after the O'Reilly Media Web 2.0 conference in 2004.

The term "Web 2.0" refers to a a second gereration of web development aimed at facilitating secure information sharing, collaboration and rich functionality.  Web 2.0 concepts and standards have led to the development and exloding growth of completely web based applications and has become somewhat synonymous with the term "Webware".    According to Tim O'Reilly, "Web 2.0 is the business revolution in the computer industry caused by the move to the Internet as a platform, and an attempt to understand the rules for success on that new platform."

Well known applications like Ebay, Wikipedia, Blogs, Social Networking (like Facebook or Twitter), and photography tools have been the early adoptors of this techology, but serious buinsess process software from providers like Google, Amazon, Salesforce, Intuit's QuickBase and others have begun to emerge as the next big wave.  One thing is certain, this change is here to stay and will change everything about the way we develop and purchase software in the future.  Even the mighty powers of Microsoft and Oracle are playing catch up as they realize that the old paradigm, where they have been king of the hill, is fading fast.  Bottom line -- this train, and all its benefits, has left the station, are you on board?  If not, give MCF a call. We can help you get there.
